Oklahoma DECA,

To say that this past year was phenomenal would be an understatement. I can’t express just how thankful I am to be able to have experienced such an amazing term. Serving as your Vice President of Leadership has been a dream, and I couldn’t have asked for a better year. I will never forget how it felt to be called on stage at CDC last year to accept a position on the state executive council. It’s rare for a high school student to feel so celebrated, so it really was such a valuable moment that I will forever cherish. Before deciding to run for state office, I was terrified. The unknown was a scary place, and being a timid teenager, it wasn’t something I was willing to explore so soon. However, there were a couple of people in my life that really saw the potential in me. With their support, I decided to dive in headfirst, unaware of what the future would hold. I’m so insanely grateful that I got the push I needed, because without it, I wouldn’t be writing this blog as a state officer.

The experiences that I’ve had this past year have been highly necessary for my growth. Leading a workshop at FLC, helping to coordinate such events, and growing closer to the team have all taught me several important life and work skills. My fellow team members have taught me how important it is to balance work and fun, and how to execute that as well. Each member has taught me so much about myself, and I’ve learned so many valuable lessons from them

Once again, I’d like to thank you all for this once in a lifetime opportunity. I believe that everyone deserves to have just as much of a beneficial experience as I have had. Therefore, if you are interested in running for  state office, please take that leap of faith! I promise you, it will not disappoint. I hope to see you soon!
